It's a late Monday night and I'm snuggled in my bed—propped up, laptop in hand—with my light blue denim pajamas on. The girls are sleeping and all is quiet in the house. It's much too late to write a blog—my brains only longing is for the comfort of my pillow.
I tried to motivate myself with some of my writing prompts—ah ha moments really, based in scripture—to no avail. Everything seemed uninspiring, as it often does at 10pm at night. As I asked the Lord what I should write about there was one thing that stirred my soul and felt as natural as breathing to me. And that was to write a letter to you.
If I had only a few precious moments of face to face time with you this week I would tell you this.
"You are so deeply loved. I'm not sure if you fully understand the depth of love that God has for you but it's true—you are His first pick. You might doubt this because of your past or present failures, or because of what people have told you, but those things aren't true. You could never be more perfectly loved than you are right now.
Oh and you are beautiful, you are so beautiful. Your hair is gorgeous. Your eyes sparkle. Your smile, memorably beautiful. Your laugh, contagious. If you could only see yourself as God sees you. Erase everything you thought you knew about beauty because now, yours is the face you'll imagine seeing on the cover of every magazine in the check out isle! Because you being perfectly you, is beautiful beyond measure. There's no one who can compare to you.
Lastly, I peaked into your future and let me tell you, you aren't going to believe what God does with your life. You know those dreams in your heart that you thought would never come to pass? Yeah, He blows those things out of the water with His goodness towards you. He ends up doing above and beyond what you thought He would do. I know sometimes it seems a long time coming. Maybe you doubt that He truly has your best in mind. But He does. His plan is infinitely greater than what you thought it would be. Your current season is not a detour, it's preparation ground for the great things He has in store. I've seen your future and it's full of fruitfulness, filled with hope, joy, love and the goodness of God."
I love you sweet friend. Love, Jamie."
"Live this week as the perfectly-beautiful, loved and chosen, God-gifted, hope-filled, promise-given daughter of God that you were destined to be."
