I woke up this morning sleepy eyed. My body didn't want to arise, but my heart and mind were tugging my body towards my Bible. I opened it up and read my daily Bible reading, then I shut one of my double doors to my room. Kids fast asleep I peacefully sat in my Jesus chairs ready to talk to Him about some things that were weighing on my heart.
Part of what I prayed was internal and part was external, about a certain situation in my life. One that I know God has spoken to my husband and I about and given us direction on—that is to say I'm as certain as I can be. I'll move in the direction He's nudging, and if it's not Him—even though it's a huge decision—I'll trust Him ever still. He's brought clarity time and time again, now during the walking it out I find I need my faith to still be renewed. Do you ever find yourself here?
"Are you sure about this God?" I find myself asking, again.
Yet there comes moments in our journey's of walking with God where we need to pull out the promises God spoke in the past. To renew our hearts and passion in the middle of the journey. We need to remember the times when He gave us direction and stand firmly. On the journey, you may have moments where you are tempted to doubt, but it's in those instances that we need to remind ourselves.
Remind yourself of who your God is.
Remind yourself of who you are in God.
Remind yourself that obedience to God is ALWAY your best path.
Remind yourself of God's past promises and direction.
Remind yourself that God is a God who has your past, present and future in mind.
Dig into His word, grab a hold of it and walk forward in faith. A verse that I have been meditating on for years came to my heart this morning and I hope that it blesses your heart as well it's found in Isaiah 48:17
"Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: 'I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.'"
This summer—as we all take time to lay our lives before God with open hands—is there a promise in your life that you have been tempted to let go of? Is there a word from God that used to make your heart skip a beat, but now seems to lie lifeless before you? Maybe it's time to remind yourself of the promises God has over your life. Maybe, just maybe, it's time for Him to breathe new life into your heart and life and you spend time with Him.
Take some extra time to be with Him.
Open your Bible. Study it. Make it personal. Make a hot cup of tea. Listen to a great podcast. Read a great book. Write down the promises He's spoken over you present and future.
"May you exit these summer months stronger than you have ever been before in God. May you experience joy in your obedience. May you be reminded of who you are, who God is and the promises He has for your past, present and future."
