For Your Eyes Only

Have you ever imagined someone finding your journal, reading through it's entirety and gasping at the hidden secrets that lie within? Maybe you're not an avid journal writer like me, but my journal is a sacred place. It's as if I'm writing a love letter to Jesus with direct access to Him. It's like overnight mail, except this is instantaneous. The minute I write something down it goes directly to Him.

"For God's Eyes Only" is written in invisible ink on the cover that only He can see.

In my journal there are no right or wrong ways to speak. I can say anything I want, and I mean anything. What I'm thinking or feeling. Questions I have to ask God that honestly I don't have an answer for. Ramblings of an early 40 year old woman with four kids, two dogs, an amazing husband, friendships and a God who desperately loves her and cares about every detail. By now I'm sure you're imagining exactly what rests within the pages of my journal.

So today I want to share some things I've written in my journal. I want to wipe off the letters that say "For God's Eyes Only," and give you partial access to some intimate places in my life that I hope will touch your heart and draw you closer to Jesus.

This is my list of resolutions I created one late night in October. Maybe you can take a couple and apply them to your personal life. Here's a direct excerpt, word for word.

Jamie Klusacek's Journal Resolutions to God

Lord, I want to experience You in ways I've only heard about from others. My arms are open Jesus. So here's my resolution of sorts to You for this life, this gift.

1. I will do my best to enjoy each day.

2. I will leave worry at the doorstep of the dawn.

3. I will willingly follow where I think You're leading and I will do so with joy (jomo over fomo: thanks for that one Kristin).

4. I will intentionally imagine the best about others.

5. I won't complain about things I can change.

6. I will choose to believe that this path is the best path I could ever be on. That our future will be better than we could even hope.

7. I will allow You to change the inside of me on the journey and believe what You say about me. I bring me into every season.

8. I will release the questions of the past and maintain a thankful, trustworthy heart to You in my present and future.

9. I will aim to embrace change. The very thing I run from could be a catalyst for my future in You.

10. I will love You first and foremost, remembering where I came from and seek to live a simple life of obedience allowing You room to move and receive the flory from the lives my life points to You.

11. I will live by great faith and make private and public choices that will reflect who You are and honor You.

12. I will continue to worship and write as well as find pleasure in the simplicity of family and friendships.

13. I will prioritize what You prioritize - You, Milan, the girls and obedience in it all. I will not despise the private, but cherish it as the most precious gift of all.

14. I will hold what You give with open hands and not become attached to things that were never meant to define me.

15. And I will help others do the same in all this.

Yours forever and always,

Jamie Klusacek

Ps. I saw two shooting stars tonight

I can't believe that God is so lovingly-gracious that He allows me to be completely open and honest with Him. I can't believe where He's brought me to from where I began. I can't believe that I get to help others from the intimacy of nightly journal ramblings to Jesus. I'm so thankful that He is still working on me.

From my journal to your home, I hope these resolutions encourage your heart this week.
