Just Be Moving Forward

Writer: Jamie KlusacekJamie Klusacek

I love the movie “Meet the Robinsons.” It’s the story of a young orphan boy with crazy blond hair who determines if he could only turn back time and meet his mother, all his problems would fade away. He sets his mind to building a time machine that will take him back to the past where he can meet his mom and for the first time and find her in the future.

Unfortunately, his plans unravel and, long story short, in the end he discovers that changing his past doesn’t matter as much as living in his present. If he just keeps moving forward, despite the difficulties and failures and triumphs, everything will turn out all right. What a great message for my kids. What a great message for me.

There are moments when I’m tempted to turn around, leave it all behind and switch into freak out mode. You know, that moment where you can sense your emotions rising up and you feel like you can’t handle one more ounce of bad news, things not going as expected, or even one more comment from that person who loves to give their opinion at any and every moment they can in your life.

You feel as if you are getting swept away in the endless amount of to-do’s from work, family and kids, whacked in the face by flying debris everywhere. These times in my life usually occur right before God is about to do something great.

Many times, I need to release some things in order to step into the greater calling God has for my life and the lives of others around me. Release is not retreat.

Moving forward often means honing into the voice of God for your life and releasing some things that are keeping you from the peace, rest and purpose God wants to give freely. Release for me is never pleasant, but in order to go higher, letting go is a must.

Don’t just keep pressing on in those moments, but allow God to search your life and speak to you, adjusting your path. I come to you from a place of not having arrived, but rather a place of humble asking. Humble seeking. Humble release.

Allowing God to strengthen me to take step after step of courageous obedience. I’m not what I was ten or even five years ago, but I still have a lifetime of learning ahead. So I keep moving forward.

Now let me say that moving forward does not mean sprinting ahead at a breakneck pace. Sometimes moving forward means resting. Sometimes it means walking. Sometimes, yes, it does mean running. Moving forward simply means staying in tune with God and walking in the direction He has for you.

"God is building a name for Himself, and He wants to do that personally in your life. He is building a reputation in you so that the faith in your life is not a faith built off of someone else’s divine moments. Your faith is built off of moments that God has designed to show and prove Himself, His promises and His character to you."

Each yes to God is a step towards God’s best for your life and a greater discovery of who He is.

Yes, it’s true that when we don’t trust God completely, life may appear to be easy and comfortable— but that’s just a mirage. The only truly safe place to be is in the arms of God. When we choose to trust God, the obstacles that come our way are opportunities for miracles. Miracles that shape our faith and future.

A chance for God to do something so divine in your life that no one could explain it but through the hand of God. These are moments I don’t want to miss. This is where I want to live, so I keep moving forward. I’ve tried doing it on my own and I make a mess 100% of the time.

But the minute I say yes to trusting God, no matter what my eyes see, my ears hear, or my heart experiences, I step forward into the miraculous.

With only One person in all of creation who knows your beginning from your end and created

you with a specific purpose in mind, why not trust Him to carry out the plan for you? In His timing and in His way, just keep moving forward.

If you make a mistake, that’s okay. God’s grace and power is enough to cover that. If you choose the wrong path, God will have another way to get you to your destiny, just keep moving forward.

If you have to say yes to something scary, trust that He will be with you. If you need to say no to something you’ve done your entire life, have the courage to do it, just keep moving forward. Trust and believe God.

Your life is a blank page in the hands of the greatest Author of all time. Just Be the character He’s created you to be. Full-out, all-in, completely surrendering to Him and recklessly accepting and embracing who you are.

I look forward to seeing all that God does in and through you in the weeks, months and years to come. We are a part of each other’s story. Cheering from the sidelines of life, strengthening each other on this faith-filled journey.

"Keep moving forward and journey well, my friend."
