On earth as it is in heaven

This will be a personal post for me because although God's will is above-and-beyond amazing—sometimes it's hard too.

It's Christmas Eve. As sit here this season thinking about our family and God's blessing in our lives I can't help but think about my eldest daughter Grace.

Last year she graduated from High School and this year, with much prayer and seeking God, she is in Australia for schooling.

Which means she's not here for Christmas...and honestly, I miss her. My heart hurts.

And although there is not any place I would rather her be than in the center of God's will...

And although I am extremely proud of her for being courageous...

And although all healthy things grow and this is her next step...

Yes, although I wouldn't have it any other way.

There is always a measure of pain in the promise.

And that's OK. We can experience BOTH joy and sorrow in the same season WHILE in the center of God's will. I used to think that the sorrow meant something was wrong, but that's not necessarily the case.

Knowing that we will experience a measure of pain AND joy as we follow God helps us on the journey.

My prayer this side of heaven is that as God's will is done here on earth He gives us the strength to willingly embrace the growing pains and keep moving towards His promise.
