The Death of a Dream: Lessons Learned Part 3

This is the third and final week of this on this chapter of the blog. If you haven't read part one or two of the blog, which came out in the previous weeks, you should do that now so that you have context to this one.

We will continue our conversation this week—from my heart to yours here's the last few things I've learned as I've walked through seasons of loss and dreams being delayed...

Trust in the God of the miraculous.

Regardless of our experiences, God is always a good God. He’s your God. Faith doesn’t take away our feelings of loss, but it gives us a greater reason to hope, to move, and to live beyond what we see.

If one dream has died, or you have experienced loss is your life, God will have a purpose in it as well as a different dream in front of you that will fit you perfectly. And what if that dream really isn’t dead? What if God wants to breathe life into it once again like He did for the widow in 2 Kings 4? What if Jesus came along today and told you that dream was only sleeping? Awaiting its time for God to touch it and a miracle to break out.

Sometimes our dream isn’t dead at all. Sometimes it’s just the wrong timing. Sometimes we aren’t ready for that dream. Sometimes God looks at us and decides our character isn’t what it should be and we couldn’t even handle that dream.

I don’t know how long you’ve been asking, searching, praying and pursuing, but I do know that if you know deep down that thing is of God, don’t stop.

"Don’t give up. Keep believing. Keep hoping. Keep taking steps toward it and surround yourself with people who believe God’s best with you."

Receive fresh hope.

The future is not to be feared. There’s a verse I love about this in Proverbs 31 describing a woman who loves and trusts God. It says, “She is clothed with dignity and honor, she laughs

without fear of the future.” I’ll be honest, there are seasons in life where I will literally look up to the sky and wail out a gigantic guttural laugh! I turn my face toward heaven and laugh to remind myself that I will not fear what’s ahead but that God’s got me.

I want to be like that Proverbs 31 woman, but I know I’ve got to learn to trust and live in hope. Hebrews 6:19 talks about how Jesus is like an anchor of hope for our souls.

"Living in a life-giving relationship with God always, always, always leaves room for hope."

Hope for our present. Hope for our future. Hope for the miraculous. Hope for healing. God

has everything worked out already to bring you to the place He’s called you to be. He takes the past and present into account for His plan for your life.

Regardless of what you’ve experienced thus far, God has great, awe-inspiring, beautifully crafted, wonderful plans for you and those you love. Have the courage to let go of past pain. To release loss into the hands of a Father who can truly restore life to your heart. Stand firm on who God has called you to be and don't let pain or loss project itself into your future.

Your future is bright and beautiful my sweet friend.

"Choose to believe again. May God breathe into you fresh hope for your past, present and future. Just Be hopeful."
