The Lord's Prayer

We are going to take the last few weeks of 2024 recapping Matthew 6 where Jesus teaches us how to pray.

I have to point out that before He teaches us how to pray Jesus drops a HUGELY IMPORTANT preface in verse 8:

"For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask..."

This word "need" (5532) in Greek means: personal need or want.

I find comfort in the fact that God knows what I both NEED and WANT or DESIRE in my life. In fact, before I even ask, He already knows what's best for my life.

I used to worry about whether or not I'd remember everything in prayer. I thought, if I don't ask, maybe God won't respond.

Studying this passage, I now stand in confidence that regardless of our asking God is STILL SOVEREIGN in my life. That brings peace, trust and confidence in Him.

Ask yourself this week: How does it change my perspective knowing that God knows what I need and want even before I ask?

I hope it breathes fresh faith into your life, as it does mine...
